Grande described the theme of the album on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon as "bringing light to a situation, or to someone's life, or somebody else who brings light to your life, sweetening the situation." "no tears left to cry" specifically is about positivity and optimism.

What "no tears left to cry" Means To Me:
Ariana Grande was my number-one artist on Spotify for five years straight. The Sweetener album is one of my favorites and whenever I need a pick-me-up or want to be in a feel-good mood I listen to it. I saw Ariana Grande in concert on her Sweetener world tour. "no tears left to cry" is a reminder of life being good and doing what you enjoy and to not let little things bring you down.

Emotion/Aesthetic Choices:
When I listen to this song and the Sweetener album I picture bright colors and all-around good vibes. So, I decided to take photos of things that are "sweet" in my life and make me feel good. I wanted to show some things from home that I miss and make me happy. I also wanted to show things I do in Spain I consider to be perfect moments and ease the homesickness. The photos I took have pops of color and did some editing to enhance thus increasing the exposure and saturation elements.
